Kuraafat
(short film)
Mischief!
Art Sir scolds his students for making noise in school and sarcastically asks them to tear off the charts of the Himalayas which they made in class. Faizan and Noor sneak in the Art Room and tear off a chart, but they are caught in the act by a third student, Chugli
Set in a middle-class school in Uttarakhand, Khurafat deals with mischievous yet innocent minds of the kids, and dilemmas of the grown-ups in dealing with them. the camera never steps out of the school yet, The Himalayas become a constant backdrop to the narrative of the film and it reminds us of the harsh reality outside the kid’s world and a huge obstacle stopping kids from seeing beyond the closed boundaries and yet again it becomes a symbol of hope.
I joined the project as an assistant cinematographer. My work also included managing the actors that are mostly school kids, managing camera rentals, prop making, etc.
